Our Team

200+ years combined experience

Our team has more than 200 years of combined technology development and deployment experience. We help our clients succeed with difficult analytical measurement applications.

David R. Wilson, Ph.D.

CEO

David has over 40 years of experience growing small technology companies,
particularly in gas measurement and environmental health and safety. Three of those companies were acquired. He has served in operations management as Chief
Operating Officer and as Product Development Leader for two companies. He has also served on numerous boards. He has 3 degrees in Electrical and Mechanical
Engineering from MIT and has served on the MIT Corporation. He volunteers for the
MIT Venture Mentoring Service.

Marty-Spartz-Portrait.jpg

Martin Spartz, Ph.D.

CTO

Marty has 35+ years of designing, developing and deploying infrared gas analysis and supporting technologies for nearly every industry from automotive, to environmental, to homeland security, to process and semiconductor. He was a senior member of three companies that were eventually acquired by larger companies: VP of Gas Products at On-Line Technologies that was acquired by MKS Instruments in 2001, CTO and co-founder of Prism Analytical Technologies that was acquired by Montrose Environmental in 2017, and CTO and co-founder of Max Analytical Technologies that was acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2022. Marty holds a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Kansas State University.

Paul-Perron.jpg

Paul Perron

Chief Development Officer

Paul has extensive experience completing strategic and transactions, having been involved in closing over 100 deals while working at Otis Elevator and United Technologies. With his engineering background, he brings an analytical and collaborative approach to solving complex problems. His broad experience led to serving as a director on several boards including a startup, a management buyout and multiple JVs with private equity. A strong believer in education, he has engineering and business degrees from WPI, RPI and MIT. When not working or volunteering, Paul can often be found with either a cue stick or golf club in hand.

Tony.jpg

Anthony Bonanno, Ph.D.

Director of Engineering

Tony has 35 years of experience turning technology into products for Gas Analysis and Semiconductor Metrology. With a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry and an Engineering mindset, he has spent most of his career working with Dr. Spartz to help turn his ideas into successful products. Tony has worked on the development and commercialization of the two most successful FTIR gas analyzers in the last 30 years.  He has also created several gas sampling modules and gas analysis systems, taking them from early concept to commercial product.  He spent his career working for three successful start-up companies, and is joining the EVT Team for another exciting opportunity.

Phil-003dp.jpg

Phil Kauppi

Senior Applications Scientist

Phil entered the air emissions analysis and measurement community over 27 years ago, with his first FTIR field test performed in 1998. He has been an advocate for the use of FTIR-based technologies in a large range of source categories including power generation, cement, chemical, ethanol, catalyst research, wood/paper, biomass, semiconductor, purity analysis, and more. Phil has managed hundreds of field projects and research studies, trained hundreds of individuals on FTIR operation, and actively participates with ASTM and the EPA on FTIR-based methodologies. Phil Kauppi received a B.S. in Chemistry from Central Michigan University.

Ron-TecklanBurg.jpg

Ron Tecklenburg, Ph.D.

Lab Director

Ron has 40+ years of experience as an analytical chemist with areas of expertise that include high resolution GC-MS, LC-MS, FTMS, MALDI MS, laser photodissociation and the development of novel characterization methods for the structural elucidation of highly reactive catalysts, polymers, resins and the new product development of unique polymers with novel cure systems with broad market applications. Ron holds a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University and a post doc from Michigan State University.

Nick-IMG_4588.jpg

Nick Cacace

Product Development Engineer

Nick specializes in turning ideas into fully realized, manufacturable products. With a multidisciplinary background in mechanical design, electrical systems, gas flow control systems, and regulatory compliance, he works across the entire product development lifecycle — from rough concepts and CAD modeling, to prototyping, system integration, and navigating certification pathways. At MAX Analytical Technologies, Nick helped develop a range of gas analysis and sampling products from concept through production.
